Are you a Register Yoga School with the Yoga Alliance?

Yes, the SchoolYoga Institute is a Registered Yoga School with the Yoga Alliance.  We are registered to train at the 200 and 500 hour levels.  Our teacher training programs qualify graduates to receive their RYT-200 or RYT-500 through the Yoga Alliance.  Our trainings can also be used for continuing education hours through Yoga Alliance.

What is Healing Arts?

Healing Arts refers to many of the traditional healing systems that have been practice for many year around the world. They include but are not limited to, spiritual healing and consultation, herbal healing, Reiki healing, Shamanic healing, and ayurveda medicine.

I am going by myself.  Is it possible to be matched with a roommate to receive the double room rate?

Yes,  we match roommates giving preference to people that sign up first.

What is the difference between the 200 hour and 500 hour training?

RYT 200 is for those who have not had teacher certification training before.   RYT 500 is an advance Yoga Teacher Training program only for those who have already completed RYT 200.

Are there any pre-requisites for the Yoga Teacher Training Certification Courses?

Anyone can enroll in our 200-hour teacher training programs without any previous training.  Once enrolled, we typically offer suggested readings and taking local yoga classes to get the most out of the training.

The 500-hour teacher training programs require you to have previously completed a 200-hour training either through the SchoolYoga Institute or another registered yoga school.

How many students are in the training?

We typically have between 10 and 25 students in the training.  This is the combined 200 and 500 hour trainees.

What style of yoga do you teach?

We prepare our teacher trainees to teach two major styles of yoga, Sivananda based Saddhana Hatha Flow and Ashtanga based Saddhana Yoga Vinyasa Flow. Each style has three levels, foundation, Variation, and Integration. The foundation is the fundamental routine of Sivananda and Ashtanga based Vinyasa Flow routine. The variation is evolved from the foundation into modification and variations of the postures yet keep the similar routine. The last level is the Integration which we ask and teach trainees to integrate their learning with their personal practice so they develop their own unique style of teaching that connects them in deeper level. Besides Sadhana Hatha Flow and Vinyasa Flow we also introduce trainees how to teach restorative yoga, and yoga for certain populations, especially for those enrolled in the advanced teacher training program.

The Vinyasa yoga we teach is based off of the Ashtanga primary series, but it is a modified flow. We integrate most of the postures into a sequence that we find a little easier to teach. We do not integrate as many jump-backs as the traditional series, as we also find it can be hard on the body. We teach variations for all the postures making the series appropriate for a wider variety of people. But again, the series, especially for the advanced training is just a form that we use as a foundation. It is really about finding what resonates with you and expanding the tools we have as teachers to share with students.

We also introduce healing arts to our trainees, especially for the YTTC 500 level trainees. They include but not limited to, spiritual healing and consultation, herbal healing, Reiki healing, Shamanic healing, and ayurveda medicine.
